MOET for Midwives in Australia

The MOET course is truly multidisciplinary.

Midwives are very welcome to attend the MOET course, although they attend as observers, rather than candidates. Despite the term "observer" midwives play an important, hands-on and contributory role, while promoting multidisciplinary teamwork, and highlighting the importance of good communication.

Midwives pay a greatly reduced registration fee. They receive a copy of the course guide and attend all sessions of the course. They do not sit the scenario examination, however they may sit the MCQ if they wish. They are not required to run the scenarios, although they do get to practise them where time permits.

Midwives in the UK have derived great benefit from this course, and the course remains very popular among midwives in units where the course is run. Initial feedback from midwives attending the courses in Australia has been very positive.
